Given that our skin is the largest organ on our bodies, it seems crazy that it is also the part of our body we so often neglect. What we would like to share with you here in our latest blog are some tips for taking care of your skin by nurturing yourself inside.

Here are our tips for taking care of your skin from the inside out:

You are what you eat

When was the last time you really stopped to appreciate how the food we eat affects our overall health, wellbeing and appearance?

One of the best ways to ensure your skin glows from the inside out is by ensuring you have a variety of superfoods in your diet. Foods high in vitamin C are particularly important for giving you healthy, radiant skin.

Try adding some (or all!) of the following into your diet on a regular basis: blueberries, kiwi, strawberries, sweet potatoes, citrus fruit, broccoli, peppers…

Drink well

You will have heard this so many times, but it just can’t be underestimated the power of water to ensure your skin radiates health and beauty. A good tip to ensure you drink enough water throughout the day is to have 2 1 litre bottles in the fridge and aim to get through them by the end of the day.

Your wellbeing

Your skin is a reflection of your inner health and to achieve beauty from within that glows on your skin, you have to look after your wellbeing. Just think about those tired, puffy eyes we get when we don’t get enough sleep, or the lines and spots that can develop when we are stressed. In fact stress is a big factor in preventing healthy skin and it is crucial that it is kept under control. Start incorporating some stress-reducing activities such as yoga, meditation, walking or deep breathing.

Get to bed early

Sleep is crucial to our health and wellness as it gives our bodies a chance to repair itself on a cellular level.  Sleep deprivation can show up in the form of under eye bags, puffiness and accentuated dark circles. Though everyone is different, try to get 7-8 hours of sleep per night in a dark room away from technology. Adequate sleep enables us to make healthier food choices and be more active—which together, help us look and feel better.

Oxygen

With oxygen being vital to our body’s function, it makes sense that it can also have huge benefits to our skin and should feature in your skincare routine. It is the primary driver for cell production and energy – in short, our cells cannot renew efficiently without it. High concentrations of good quality oxygen kick start the body’s healing functions. It stimulates collagen production, aids cell turnover, helps skin to shed and replace dead cells, boosts circulation, reduces inflammation and leaves your complexion hydrated and revitalised.

Try any of the following to help with this: Exercise outside, practice mindfulness breathing exercises, treat yourself to an oxygen facial or breathe oxygen-enriched air.
